After a successful start in the Downtown District, we are excited to continue to work with the community on additional areas of Cedar Falls so we can plan for the future of our city together.

What should the College Hill District be like in the future? How should it grow and change? Are there places that should stay the same? What's missing? What would make the College Hill area a better place to live, work, and go to school?

The City has asked the Ferrell Madden team, the urban design and planning consultants who lead the Downtown visioning effort, to shift their focus to the College Hill area to help us answer these questions and develop a new Vision Plan to guide the future of College Hill and the surrounding neighborhoods. The plan will focus on topics like the scale and character of new development; walking, biking, and other transportation options; and the mix of uses and range of activities that will combine to create and maintain a vibrant neighborhood center. The design team will engage the public, analyze the current College Hill context, and rethink the current zoning standards to better shape the character of future development.

This effort will last for several months, with opportunities for public input and involvement throughout the process--from the initial Public Kick-Off, through a hands-on Community Design Charrette this spring, to the adoption of any zoning changes, as described in the College Hill Schedule at right.
